Two scientists of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, Cédric d’Udekem d’Acoz and Henri Robert, participated in an oceanographic campaign in Antarctica on board the icebreaker Polarstern.

Their aim was to study the diversity of amphipods (a group of small, shrimp-like crustaceans) and their role in benthic ecosystems (i.e. those of the bottom of the sea).
