Title: Expedition to Antarctica: Diversity of deep sea crustaceans

Henri and Cedric have collected thousands of specimens in their fykes and special nets. They also photographed the observed species and, in some cases, sampled DNA for future genetic research.

Preliminary observations made aboard show that they have discovered about fifteen new species varying between 3 mm and 10 cm.

Back in Belgium, accurate research will complete their work at sea. In this, they contribute to the international programme “Census of Antarctic Marine Life” within the scope of the International Polar Year 2007-2009.
