Titel: Thursday, 10th July

Hello,

This morning we examined the materials discovered on the surface during the last days. Our attention was drawn to a tiny mandible with at least three teeth. This is the first discovery of the little primate Teilhardina in a stratum of this age in North America: striking resemblance with the species Teilhardina belgica from the Belgian site of Dormaal (Brabant)! We also discovered the jaw of a taeniodont, a big mammal that looked very much like a beaver but that belonged to an entirely disappeared group.

500 kg of sediments in bags...
The team gathers enthousiasticly around the new discoveries

After all this good news, we are starting our fieldwork. We found an interesting layer to sieve and moreover, it's very easy to reach it. We put about 500 kg of sediments in bags : this will keep us busy during a few days. Excited by the discoveries of the morning and full of energy, Hugo manages to fold his pickaxe. This guy is an incredible force of nature.
