"The friends of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences" is a non-profit organisation supporting the activities of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS). This association contributes to a greater fame and influence of the RBINS, its collections, its research and its permanent and temporary exhibitions.

Royal Belgian Society of Anthropology and Praehistory
The Royal Belgian Society of Anthropology and Praehistory unites professional and non-professional researchers, Belgian as well as foreign, who specialise in praehistoric archaeology, physic anthropology, genetic anthropology and human palaeontology.

Royal Belgian Entomological Society
The Royal Belgian Entomological Society is a non-profit making organization established since 9 april 1855. Its aim is to encourage the study of insects through its activities, publications and educational material.

Royal Belgian Zoological Society
The Royal Belgian Zoological Society is a non profit organisation that aims to stimulate zoological research in Belgium by the annual organisation of the "Benelux Congress of Zoology" and the publication of the scientific journal "Belgian Journal of Zoology" that issues papers that cover a wide range of zoological disciplines (included in Current Contents with Science Citation Index).

The Consortium for the Barcode of Life (CBOL)
The Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences CBOL is one of the founding members of the CBOL consortium. This international association of research institutes is devoted to developing DNA barcoding as an accurate and reliable tool for research on the taxonomy of plant and animal species as a practical, cost-effective tool for assigning unidentified specimens to their correct species.

Belgium Women in Science (BeWiSe)
On the initiative of Isa Schön, scientist at the Institute, the association BeWiSe (Belgium Women in Science - Vrouwen en Wetenschappen in België - Femmes et Sciences en Belgique) was established in 2000. At the end of 2003 the association became a non-profit organisation, with its seat at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences. This association is open to all women and men working or having worked in the field of sciences in the public and private sector (technology and industry, research and education) and to all who promote equal participation of women in science.
