Nouveaux Lacertidae (Reptilia, Squamata) de l'Eocène inférieur européen

New Lacertid lizards (Reptilia, Squamata) from the lower european Eocene

(Full article is in French)

Abstract:

The lower European Eocene localities Dormaal and Prémontré have yielded a rather diverse assemblage of lizards. Among them we recognize a new genus of lacertid lizard, Dormaalisaurus, represented by two species, D. girardoti and D. rossmanni. We undertook a cladistic analysis of the major extant taxa in the Lacertilia and the fossil genus Dormaalisaurus. Our results find Dormaalisaurus to be the sister-group of the extant Lacertidae.
