Installation profile
Founded in 1846, the RBINS is the Belgian leading institution for biodiversity studies.
It is organised in 7 Departments and 17 scientific sections representing a vast range of competence and expertise in taxonomy, phylogeny, ecology, genetics, zoogeography of invertebrates and vertebrates, palaeontology, palaeobotany, conservation biology, freshwater biology, marine biology, population dynamics, oceanography and geology.
From 1995 onwards it serves as the << National Focal Point >> for the follow-up of the Biodiversity Convention.
