This person will be responsible for improving and validating remote sensing algorithms as well as managing and exploiting large archives of satellite data. The remote sensing algorithms are used to estimate, from satellite measurements, parameters of oceanographic interest such as the concentrations of chlorophyll a and suspended particulate matter and related parameters.
This research has a duration of 2 years. Suitable candidates will have, in addition to a university science degree:
- talent for mathematical and computational work
- enthusiasm for research and an innovative spirit
- ability to write scientific research publicationse
Experience in marine science or remote sensing is an advantage, but, if necessary, the person can be trained in our team.
Good knowledge of English is necessary. A basic knowledge of either French or Dutch is desirable.
The workplace is Brussels 1200 with typically 5-20 days per year abroad for workshops, conferences and other meetings and 3-10 days per year at sea.
