Managing communication between Belgium and the CBD Secretariat
The CBD National Focal Point is the interface between the international Secretariat for the Convention, based in Montreal (Canada), and the major players for biodiversity in Belgium. This involves the following activities.
Disseminate information coming from the CBD Secretariat:- Receive and disseminate the notifications, decisions and recommendations taken by the CBD to the relevant Belgian authorities
- Inform the Belgian authorities and other stakeholders on the occurrence of official CBD meetings
- Disseminate CBD publications, brochures and leaflets to the Belgian authorities, biodiversity stakeholders and general public
- Inform the authorities, stakeholders and general public of the establishment of CBD information tools (electronic mailing lists, news headlines, etc.)
Send information to the CBD Secretariat:
- Transmit Belgian national and thematic reports, case-studies and other reports on biodiversity activities carried out at the national level
- Transmit the Belgian answers to CBD notifications, among others when these request contributions by Parties
- Send Belgian posters and abstracts when information events are organised on the fringe of official CBD meetings
- Submit the applications of Belgian experts desiring to take part in the CBD meetings
