Sensibilisation
Informing the public on the CBD and on biodiversity
A very important task of the RBINS, which has grown in importance over the years, is to make its expertise available to a wide audience.
Exchange and disseminate information on the CBD and on biodiversity, in Belgium and abroad:- Edit, coordinate, contribute to and publish scientific reference works, popularised versions of these, reports, information booklets, etc.
- Disseminate these to make them available to a wide public
- Develop and maintain the national website on the Convention (also called the ‘Belgian CHM website’)
- Write articles on biodiversity in magazines, periodicals, newspapers and scientific journals
- Help the written media with their redaction of articles on biodiversity
- Undertake oral media appearances upon request (TV, radio)
- Organise press conferences on the occasion of public events on biodiversity
- Organise scientific and thematic conferences on biodiversity
- Organise information events during official CBD meetings to illustrate the Belgian activities for biodiversity
- Contribute to museum exhibits on biodiversity
- Investigate and develop new means of disseminating biodiversity information, among others using digital tools
Educate and train various audiences in biodiversity-related issues:
- Provide lectures on biodiversity to varied audiences, including schools
- Maintain a thematic library on biodiversity and sustainable development open to the public
- Organise training sessions on biodiversity and related issues in Belgium or in other countries
- Facilitate the access to biodiversity-related information stored in Belgium
- Undertake the follow-up of students for their school work, theses, practical training, etc. on biodiversity-related issues
