THE CONFERENCE TRIPS

BIOTRAC s.p.r.l.

Information for the WCM excursions on Wednesday
18 July 2007
All excursions will be leaded by a WCM-representative. However, for questions or
additional information, please contact Kurt Jordaens: kurt.jordaens@ua.ac.be
All trips start in front of the congress site at Campus Groenenborger of the University
of Antwerp. There will be three groups of buses waiting for you one for the Brugge
trip, one for the Bouillon trip and one for the Verdronken Land van Saeftinghe +
biking trip. Because the bus to Bouillon leaves very early, people that have hotel
accommodation in the city centre can get directly on the bus in the city centre at the
Roosevelt place (see specifications below for the Bouillon/Orval trip).
The three groups of buses will depart at different times; please make sure you are in
time for your trip! The WCM-representative for the trip will be waiting for you at the
bus and there will be signs guiding you to the correct bus.
Prices for the trips include the bus trip, guides, renting of the bikes (biking trip),
entrance to three museum and beer tasting (Brugge), entrance to the castle, monastery
and beer tasting (Bouillon) and visit to the visitor centre (Saeftinghe). However, food
and additional drinks are NOT INCLUDED! Below you will find specific information
for each trip. PARTICULARLY FOR THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE TRIP TO
SAEFTINGHE THIS INFO MAY BE VERY IMPORTANT, AS WELL AS FOR
THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE BRUGGE TRIP THAT WANT TO HAVE DINNER
IN THE BREWERY!!!

Field trip to `Het Verdronken Land Van Saeftinghe'
WCM-representative: Lobke Dillen
Departure: 9:30 am at Campus Groenenborger.
Start excursion: 10:30 am at the visitor centre `Saeftinghe'.
Duration of the guided walk: approximately 4 hours.
Afterwards we will have a drink on a nice terrace where for those that like it can have
a waffle or pancake.
Estimated time of arrival back at Campus Groenenborger: 18:00 pm
Important notes:
-
This bus will also serve for the attendants of the Biking trip, who will be dropped
of in Doel.
-
For safety reasons, children under the age of 10 are not allowed.
-
Wear suitable clothes: the track is very muddy and you will have to cross several
ditches, etc. Hence, you will need clothes that may get dirty and knee-high boots
(or shoes that may get wet).
-We strongly encourage you to bring spare clothes! There is a limited space where
you can change clothes after the trip.
-July may be very warm and sunny (to our standards...), so do not forget to protect
yourself against sunburn (e.g. hat, sunglasses, sun milk).
-Nevertheless, the weather may be unpredictable and showers are possible as well, so
bring some protection against the rain!
-For those who are interested in birds, bring your binoculars!
-Lunch will be inside the nature reserve so the organisation will take care of food and
drinks. Of course, you can bring some snacks and drinks yourself.
-When returning from the trip to Antwerp, the people of the biking trip will be picked
up in Doel. There will be three stops when we arrive in Antwerp. A first stop will be
at `Berchem Church' where people that have hotel accommodation in the centre of
Antwerp can take the public transport (Tram 15 or busses 32, 190, 192, 195-197 and
297) to the city centre (which will take approximately 10 minutes). A second stop will
be at the MHC facility. A final stop will be at the Campus Groenenborger (TPC
facility).

museums that you can visit.
-During the bus trip to Brugge, you will receive a ticket `MUSEA BRUGGE 18

The price of the buffet is 15 per person to be pa id in the brewery. People that want to
