Title: Godelieve De Wulf, taxidermist, in the Museum since 1989

Why is the mammal hall a must-see?
People always remember the magical atmosphere of this hall. Quite a few of its animals are rare, extinct, or impossible to get close to when they are alive. This hall houses also completely restored specimens that were collected in 1830.

Which stuffed animal should not be missed here?
Our two new okapis, that’s for sure! We’ve done all the stuffing, from start to finish. They used to live in the Antwerp Zoo, so we’ve invited their daily caretaker to have a look at the result… She wept when she saw her animals back.

Could you define this hall in one sentence?
This hall restores life! It isn’t simply a matter of stuffing the animals and dumping them in the showcases. We really bother about giving them a movement that makes them authentic.
