Phylogenetic reconstruction of the six major oribatid series (1-6) obtained from the morphological characters studied by Norton (1998) and Grandjean (1969b) and with the Endeostigmata (i.e. primitive Prostigmata) as an effective outgroup. The data were analysed with the Paup’s inference program using parcimony. For the series Circumdehiscentiae (no. 6), the six subdvisions identified by Grandjean (1953a, 1958a) are set out (redrawn and modified from Norton, 1998, and Sakata & Norton, 2001).
