This catalogue lists all the species of Coleoptera Staphylinidae (except for Scaphidiinae and Pselaphinae) whose presence has been reported between 1860 and 2003 in Belgium and Luxembourg. For each species, a possible presence is shown in each of the 10 main biogeographical districts of Belgium and Luxembourg, for each of the following time-periods : 1860-1899, 1900-1949, 1950-2003 and 1900-2003. Moreover, as far as possible, the presence or absence of species is indicated for France, Germany and the Netherlands, that possess a border, shared (or nearly so) with Belgium or Luxembourg.
