Firefly Stops Glowing And Preys On Its Predator

Belgian biologist Philippe Kok has found that larvae of a firefly species in South-America shifted their diet to a small toad that is supposed to be their predator. Interestingly, the larvae have stopped glowing. In this way, they can better ambush the toad.

Four-Legged Whale Ancestors Reached South America in an Otter-Like Swimming Style

A four-legged whale from Peru indicates that early whales crossed the South Atlantic before 42.6 million years ago and may have propelled like otters: with a robust tail and webbed fingers on their long feet.

On 6 November 2018, the cabinet Science Policy launched a competition for secondary schools to propose a name for the new Belgian oceanographic research vessel, which we expect at the end of 2020. Several schools have shown their most original side.
