If you can’t come to our Museum, we have to bring the Museum to your living room! Here’s an update of what we have posted on our social media with #NaturalsciencesAtHome
Watch and listen
- Enjoy our video series about allosaurus Arkhane, the super predator from the Jurassic currently exhibited in our Evolution Gallery!
- Listen to our entertaining audio tour/podcast about the dinosaur era, with actress Tine Embrechts/comedian Kody and our museum guides! In Dutch and French.
- Visit our Museum virtually! You can walk in streetview through our galleries (with or without 3D glasses) on Google Arts & Culture and scroll through our online exhibitions. NEW: explore our new permanent gallery Living Planet online. Bye bye boredom!
- Fly around in our Dinosaur Gallery in 360°, passing by our Bernissart Iguanodons, our T.rex ‘Stan’ and Plateosaurus ‘Ben’! Or travel through 541 million years of evolution, and see our Jurassic star Arkhane!
- Show your toddler Iguanodon 'Iggy'! He/she lives in our Museum and will entertain the youngest dinosaur fans.
- Our Bernissart Iguanodons, our humpback whale in the entrance hall, our Lier Mammoth, our mosasaurs, our primitive horse and our Spy Neanderthals... Watch our animated videos about these six must-sees.
- Watch home made documentaries about expeditions: one to Vietnam to find new insect species, one to Siberia to track the migration of the vulnerable red-banded goose (both in French), and three to Antarctica, to find micrometeorites and to track changes in ecosystems due to climate change. Or watch this short 360 video about digging dinosaurs in Wyoming.
- Some of our scientists presenting their research in less than 3 minutes on Science Figured Out.
- Learn all about Peregrine falcons in Brussels on falconsforeveryone.be. And follow life in a tit’s nest through our educational citizen science project XperiBIRD.be.
- Sing along with the Rap des Copains Cachés: still number one in the top ten of songs that teach children 'population dynamics'! This is the karaoke version (in French and Dutch)!
Do this at home
- Upgrade your knowledge about biodiversity with our online course! Are you a nature guide, teacher or educator? Then the online course BIOTALENT is made for you! The course consists of two parts: the general module ‘Biodiversity in a Changing Climate’, followed by a case study module, option 'Herpetofauna’ or 'Medicinal Plants’ (or both!): biotalent.myspecies.info
- Craft a dinomask, bring colour into your life with our scientifically sound colouring pages, and other DIY stuff from the Museum.
- Go on an Insect and Spider Safari in your garden or in your house. Our entomologists will determinate your finds on Facebook.
