There are 4 concession prolongation requests for the extraction of sand on the Belgian part of the North sea. On May 20th 2015, Mr. Daniël Talpe, on behalf of Satic NV, Rietschoorvelden 20, 2170 Merksem, Mr. Mr. Patrick Vercammen on behalf of Ch. Kesteleyn NV, Zuiddokweg 50, 9000 Gent, Mr. Koen De Rop on behalf of Dranaco NV, Denderstraat z.n., 2060 Antwerpen and Mr. Bart Verboom, on behalf of TV Zeezand Exploitatie, Slijkensesteenweg 2, 8400 Oostende requested a prolongation of their concession for the exploitation of sand on the Belgian Continental shelf (zone 1 to 4).
The concession requests define total volumes for sand extraction which are within the legally defined boundaries. The requests were accompanied by an environmental impact study concerning possible effects on the marine environment, on the sea floor, the water, the air and climate, the acoustic environment, the fauna and flora, the monuments and landscapes and safety aspects.
This environmental impact study can be consulted from July 8th until August 6th 2015, on weekdays from 9.00-17.00h in the offices of MUMM in Brussels (5th floor room 527, person to contact: Brigitte Lauwaert 02/773.21.20, B.Lauwaert@mumm.ac.be) or in the offices of MUMM in Ostend (person to contact: Jan Haelters, 059/24.20.50, J.Haelters@mumm.ac.be, on reservation only). Everybody who is concerned can send their remarks and objections to MUMM (Brigitte Lauwaert, Gulledelle 100, 1200 Brussels) until August 21st 2015.
