Our Gallery of Humankind became second in the ‘international’ category in this year’s Museums + Heritage Awards for Excellence. This is the second time our gallery about the evolution of man and the development of the human body got rewarded.
The fourteenth edition of the award ceremony took place on the 19th of May in London during a gala evening. A jury of museum professionals determined winners in 14 categories. The International Award was given to the Danish Horsens Prison Museum for the ‘highly personal and emotional experience’ that they offer visitors by bringing them personal experiences from the people behind the prison walls. Our permanent Gallery of Humankind – Our evolution, our body, which opened its doors in May 2015 won the silver plaque (‘highly recommended’). Other finalists in our category were, amongst others, the Naturalis Biodiversity Centre and the Australian Maritime Museum.
In the end of 2015 our Gallery was already awarded bronze at the IDCA-award for communication and design.
