Baby Dinosaurs from Mongolia

Belgian palaeontologists have described baby dinosaurs with associated shell fragments. The Saurolophus dinosaurs were likely from a nest. The find sheds more light on the earliest stages of development of this giant hadrosaur species with typical crest.

Secretary of State for the North Sea Bart Tommelein Flies with us to Evaluate the Flinterstar Situation

On Friday the 9th of October, Secretary of State for the North Sea Bart Tommelein flew with us to evaluate the Flinterstar situation at sea. The ship sank after a collision with another ship near Zeebrugge.

New commander on RV Belgica

On Friday the 11th of September 2015, Bernard Tabureau took over the command of the oceanographic research vessel RV Belgica from Luc Van Tricht in Temse.

Fossilised Meal Illustrates Habitat Shift of Beaked Whales

Our colleague, palaeontologist Olivier Lambert, has found a 9 million year old fossil of a beaked whale and its last meal. This extremely rare find suggests that part of the beaked whales lived close to the water surface at that time, while the modern species are deep divers.

Public Consultation for Offshore Wind Farm Northwester 2

Near the sandbank Blighbank, about 46 km off the Northsea coast, NV Northwester 2 wants to build an offshore wind farm. The firm has introduced a request for the environmental permit for the construction and exploitation of the wind farm at the beginning of July.
