A severe storm will hit Belgian waters in the next few hours, with West-North-Westerly winds that could locally reach 8 to 9 Bft in Belgian territory.
Our OD Nature (Marine Forecast Centre) scientist are currently providing continuous updates to the Flemish Agency “Martieme Dienstverlening Kust, MDK”. As a result, MDK started the dangerous storm surge procedure. Our models are forecasting high water of 5.75m TAW at Ostend at high tide tonight around 01:30. To compare: high water at Ostend observed during the “Sinterklaas” storm in December 2013 was 6.32m TAW.
