Never before have both Belgian oceanographic research vessels RV Belgica and RV Simon Stevin joined in an interesting and complex scientific experiment.

On Thursday the 26th of March 2015, one ship will send sound waves to the sea bed and the other ship will receive the signals that return. Scientists want to “see” under the natural gas in the sea bed. This will give interesting information on the presence of prehistorical valleys and it will provide us with the necessary knowledge for future major works at sea.
