We are delighted to present a short video showing why the Blue Society needs improved ocean information and how the European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet) is helping.
EMODnet is a network of organisations working together to study the ocean, making marine data freely available and sharingthe data and data products via the Internet. The Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences is part of this network. In the video our colleague, Valérie Dulière, explains why marine data is important in combatting oil pollution at sea.
The aim of EMODnet is to unlock existing but fragmented and hidden marine data and make them accessible for a wider range of users including private bodies, public authorities and researchers. EMODnet covers geology, chemistry, physics and biology data as well as bathymetry, the sea bed habitat and human activities.
Find out more about EMODnet or watch the video.
