There are 4 concession prolongation requests for the extraction of sand on the Belgian part of the North sea. On the 20th of May 2015, Mr. Daniël Talpe (on behalf of Satic NV, Rietschoorvelden 20, 2170 Merksem), Mr. Patrick Vercammen (on behalf of Ch. Kesteleyn NV, Zuiddokweg 50, 9000 Ghent), Mr. Koen De Rop (on behalf of Dranaco NV, Denderstraat z.n., 2060 Antwerp) and Mr. Bart Verboom, (on behalf of TV Zeezand Exploitatie, Slijkensesteenweg 2, 8400 Ostend) requested a prolongation of their concession for the exploitation of sand on the Belgian continental shelf (zone 1 to 4).
The concession requests define the total volume of sand extraction that is within the legally defined boundaries. The requests were accompanied by an environmental impact study concerning possible effects on the marine environment, seabed, water, air and climate, acoustic environment, fauna and flora, monuments and landscapes and safety.
This environmental impact study can be consulted from the 8th of July until the 6th of August 2015, on weekdays from 9am-5pm in the MUMM offices in Brussels (5th floor, room 527, contact: Brigitte Lauwaert 02/773.21.20, B.Lauwaert@mumm.ac.be) or in the MUMM offices in Ostend (contact: Jan Haelters, 059/24.20.50, J.Haelters@mumm.ac.be, by reservation only). Anyone who is concerned can send their comments and objections to MUMM (Brigitte Lauwaert, Gulledelle 100, 1200 Brussels) until the 21st of August 2015.
