ALPI: Assessment of Low Carbon Society Policy Instruments

Finance is a critical issue for the development of a low-carbon society especially during times of economic recession. The ALPI project promotes relevant instruments to accelerate the transition towards a low-carbon society by demonstrating the performance and impact of policy instruments on economic, government budget and environmental aspects.

BeTemper

The project aims to assess the shallow geothermal potential in Belgium through analysis of thermal properties of rocks from the surface to a depth of 150 m, which covers the standard depth for a vertical loop system currently installed in Belgium.

ThermoMap

The goal of the project is to map the potential of very shallow geothermal energy in Europe. Therefore, ThermoMap aims at fostering the subsoil information in order to develop shallow geothermal systems across Europe.

With the awareness of these last years on climate warming and scarcity of fossil energy sources, renewable energy sources undergo a fast growing development. The geothermal energy has the advantage to be a clean in terms of gas emissions and inexhaustible resource.
