While the other Directorates primarily concern the 'scientific research' arm of our institute, the Directorate Public Services covers the Museum's departments such as the education, reception and exhibition departments. Its main mission is to raise awareness in the fields of natural science and biodiversity preservation.
The Directorate Public Services works to make heritage and knowledge concerning nature, mankind and their evolution as widely accessible as possible. Through its permanent and temporary exhibitions, educational workshops, cultural activities, and more, it offers a varied range of opportunities for learning, observation and discovery in an attractive and informal setting.
It is an inter-disciplinary Directorate involving natural sciences, education sciences and museology. For the past few years it has been implementing a vast programme to renovate the Museum's galleries.
The Directorate Public Services comprises 6 departments and entities:
- Reception Department (reservations, ticketing, pricing, events)
- Education Department (educational activities and products in a broad sense)
- Exhibition Department (design of permanent, temporary and travelling exhibitions, exhibition rentals)
- Museology Department (design, production and specialist maintenance of the exhibitions)
- Communications Department (press, promotion, fundraising, commercial partnerships, internal communications, website, social networks)
- MuseumShop (sale of souvenir gifts relating to the themes of our galleries, 'Museum'-branded items, children's books, nature guides, scientific publications, and more).
