The recurrence rate of North Sea tsunamis may be underestimated due to the nature of its basin and coastlines, characterised either by limited accommodation space or by poor preservation of event deposits due to erosion or anthropogenic reworking.

The H3O-De Voorkempen project aims to develop a (hydro)geological 3-dimensional model of the subsoil of the border region of the Voorkempen. The cross-border character of the modeling is central. The clastic part of the Cenozoic is modeled in the Flemish and Dutch part of the border region.
