Human land use and in particular deforestation has changed ecosystem pattern and processes of most of the terrestrial biosphere. It is therefore one of the elements used to define the Anthropocene, a new geological epoch characterised by anthropogenic changes in the Earth’s system.

Material used by PARADI2S to investigate Early Cretaceous systems of vertebrate parasitism: endoparasites from fossil feces, hematophagous arthropods of skin, feathers and furs, that could have been vectors to paleo-pathogens.

Renewable hydrogen combined with large scale underground storage enables transportation of energy through time, balancing out the impacts of variable renewable energy production. While storing pure hydrogen in salt caverns has been practiced since the 70s in Europe, it has never been carried out anywhere in depleted fields or aquifers.

H3O – DE VOORKEMPEN - Cross-border geological and hydrogeological 3D model of the Cenozoic of the Pre-Campine region

The H3O-De Voorkempen project aims to develop a (hydro)geological 3-dimensional model of the subsoil of the border region of the Voorkempen. The cross-border character of the modeling is central. The clastic part of the Cenozoic is modeled in the Flemish and Dutch part of the border region.
