TURBINET is a network to establish long-term collaboration and data-sharing by establishing harmonized measurement protocols and data quality for ocean colour satellite data validation activities.

The main objectives of the project are:

• To test the generality/regionality of algorithms to estimate suspended particulate matter from satellite data of turbid waters

• To uniformise the quality control of multi-site in situ data for validation of ocean colour remote sensors

• To achieve long-term sustainability of these activities by adoption of agreed measurement protocols and a joint measurement database

• To prepare long-term expansion of these activities to other partners/regions based on the core methodologies developed within TURBINET
