Jeroen Venderickx

Jeroen G.L.M. Venderickx is a scientific technician who started at RBINSc as a educator in 1998 but mutated in 2016 to become part of the scientific crew. Always looking for stories related to science, nature and the Institute.

 

Function

For the moment Jeroen is working on different subjects in different fields. Mostly in the Fresh Water Biology team, studying ostracodes, identification of true bugs and water beetles, 3d-modeling of ostracodes, solving technical problems in general.
He also participated several times in sampling missions aboard RV Belgica. Responsible for organizing the backstage tours, photographing vertebrate specimens using stacking photography, operating the ct-scanners and assisting in the management of the vertebrates and invertebrates collections are some of his various tasks of late.

Professional Experience

Formed as a teacher in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography working in the educational department of Rbinsc as a guide and organizer Jeroen honed his communicational skills to entice and captivate any willing audience to the subject of nature and science. Combined with a healthy amount of patience to sit hours looking through microscopes or at computer screens in combination with fieldwork makes him someone that can talk about what he knows he can talk about in an entertaining way.
